Glutathione GSH - Our bodies master defender

Glutathione GSH - Our bodies master defender Glutathione (GSH) has been considered our bodies most important antioxidant as it is found in all of the cells of the human body, yet most us do not know what it is or what it does.

Currently medical interest in GSH is on the increase and research is beginning to show the benefits of it in treating many conditions. Studies have begun to demonstrate the protective antioxidant, detoxifying, immune boosting, and healing properties of GSH throughout the body.

So what is Glutathione?

Glutathione (GSH) is an important antioxidant in plants, animals and fungi. GSH is capable of preventing damage to important cellular component's caused by oxidative stress from the likes of free radicals, peroxides and heavy metals. GSH is our bodies master defender and protector of our immune system, Our bodies create its own glutathione but tings such as stress, bad diet toxins, infections and aging deplete the levels making it unable to do its job properly. When working correctly your bodies Glutathione system acts as a 'sticky magnet' to all of the toxins in our body which it then flushes to our bile and stool to be carried out. As we age or if we become ill, our glutathione levels most likely become deficient.

Studies have shown that that elevated levels of Glutathione can help increase our mental and physical function and even for making our energy metabolism run well.

How to boost your GSH levels.

Supplemental/nutritional compounds that can be taken include;

Alpha Lipoic Acid - highly important to our cells and aids in energy production, blood sugar control, brain health and detoxification. Again oxidative stress can deplete ALA levels in our body. ALA is useful at recycling the Glutathione in our bodies and supporting the Glutathione system.

Vitamin C & E - These can work together to recycle glutathione

Liposomal Glutathione GSH
- Liposomal delivery prevents gastrointestinal degradation and assures high absorption into the blood, but it also appears to be capable of targeting the intracellular space and even further into sites within the cells such as mitochondria or nuclei. Combining GSH and liposomes for optimal absorption and bioavailability would appear to be a great combination as it should insure a very high (if not complete) absorption into the blood of the Glutathione.

For further reading on Glutathione GSH and the role it can play in the Brain, Lungs, Eyes, Liver, Heart and more including Cancer & aging we recommend you read Dr Levy's booklet which you can find in our store for £3.50 here
