Vitamin C and the common cold - (giveaway)

In my family we are well aware of the importance of Vitamin
C. With a young son in nursery it is easy for bugs and viruses to be brought
into our home. At this time of year colds and flu's are rife and so it is always
a good idea to arm yourself with all the information and the preventative
measures that are out there to stop these pesky viruses in their tracks!

Our immune systems are liable to be attacked for many
different reasons, a vast amount of factors can lead to us feeling run down
leaving the gates open for bugs and viruses to get a firm hold on our bodies
and leave us unable to function and perform our everyday tasks (or certainly not
with any ease!) Stress, late nights and an imbalance in movement levels (too
much or too little exercise) can all effect our immune system and leave us
feeling low.

This is where the importance of Vitamin C comes into play.
Our bodies, unlike other animals does not make its own vitamin c. This means
that Vitamin C must be consumed and this can be done through whole foods, such
as fruits and vegetables or supplemented, with the popular choice being over the
counter powders, tablets, capsules and fizzies.

Whilst these over the counter Vitamin C supplements and
foods can help we can only consume so much before we encounter gastric upset as
our bodies do not absorb all of the Vitamin C and rather it gets rid of it.
Liposomal Vitamin C has an absorption rate of up to 98% as tiny little bubbles
called liposomes protect the Vitamin C as it travels through our digestive
system and enters the blood stream via the small intestine where it goes directly to
the cells that need it.

Using this method we can gradually build up our daily dose
of Vitamin C which in turn builds up our immune system's ability to fight off

Top up my vitamin C levels eat extra fruit and take a good quality multivitamin and swear by chicken soup.
especially if feeling very chesty all helps to get better quicker!

I take a daily A-Z vitamin and mineral supplement daily to ward off any viruses etc. I also increase the fresh oranges for vitamin C when I get a cold. Honey and lemon is soothing on the throat too!

I find that garlic is the best for fighting off colds but now that I am married my husband isn't overly keen on that so I take vitamin c and echinacea!!

I don't get colds often, but if my normal healthy diet including garlic, onions and lots of fresh fruit and veg has let me down, I find Sudafed and proprietary hot paracetamol drinks work well.
