Quicksilver Scientific Artemisinin
Artemisinin is the active constituent of sweet wormwood, a well-known botanical also referred to as Artemisia annua or qinghao. It has long been used in ancient Chinese herbal healing traditions. The earliest record of its use can be found written on a piece of silk unearthed from Chinese tombs dating to 168 BC.
This botanical contains powerful bitter compounds called sesquiterpene lactones. Sesquiterpene lactones play an important role in protecting plants from parasitic invaders, insects, and infection. Artemisinin is a sesquiterpene lactone containing an unusual peroxide bridge that is unique among natural products. This peroxide bridge is believed to be responsible for its mechanism of action, which when cleaved can generate abundant free radicals.
Sesquiterpene lactones like those in artemisinin also confer bitter flavour to plants. These bitter molecules can protect plants by disrupting the phospholipid membrane of the cells of pests and invaders, and interfering with their transport proteins and mitochondrial function. Finally, artemisinin may impact biofilms.
Artemisinin is poorly soluble in water and oil, and traditional oral formulations have low bioavailability. As a result, the use of derivatives such as artesunate (water-soluble) and artemether
Quicksilver Scientific Delivery Systems™ brings the power of intravenous therapy into convenient oral delivery. Quicksilver Delivery Systems™ improve upon liposomal and emulsification technology with smaller, more stable particles made from the highest-grade ingredients available. In addition to exceptional absorption rates, these tiny liposomal and nanoemulsified particles increase diffusion across mucus membranes, and enhance lymphatic circulation and delivery of nutrients.
The liposomes in this formula contain pure phosphatidylcholine, a lipid that is the primary building block of all cell membranes.
